01 The Manufacturing Base

One site in Foshan, where design, manufacture and build control sit together.

TOP Y manufactures in Foshan, Guangdong, in a single production base where the machines are designed, built and prepared for shipment under one management. Because design and manufacturing are not split between companies, a change made on a drawing is a change the people building the machine hear about directly.

Why the factory figures are marked rather than invented

Floor area, team size, assembly capacity and lead times are the numbers a buyer actually uses to judge a manufacturer, which is exactly why they have to come from TOP Y's own records. They are marked to be confirmed here instead of being filled with plausible-looking figures.

02 Drawing-Led Build

Every machine starts as a drawing with its dimensions and operations already on it.

In TOP Y's workshop the production process begins on paper. Engineers work detail-first: each machine's dimensions and each production operation are written onto the drawing itself. The people on the shop floor therefore build to a document instead of to an interpretation, which is what keeps a non-standard machine from drifting during assembly.

Three things the drawing settles before anything is built

  • Dimensions. The machine's overall size and the space each unit occupies are fixed on the drawing, not decided on the floor.
  • Operations. The production operations are marked in detail, so the machine is built in a defined order rather than in whatever order is convenient.
  • Confirmation. The technical drawings for the order are issued for the customer's review and confirmation before production begins.

This is also the honest answer to "when will my machine be ready?"

For a custom machine the schedule only becomes real once the drawing is confirmed. Before that point no manufacturer can commit to a date with any confidence, which is why drawing confirmation is the gate that starts the production clock, not the purchase order.

03 Assembly Organisation

Built in batches first, then commissioned as one machine.

This is the part of TOP Y's manufacturing that a product catalogue can never show. In the workshop, workers assemble the machine in batches, and each batch is made to work correctly before the build moves on. Only after the batches are proven is the complete machine assembled and run as a single unit.

Every sub-assembly that was verified in batches now has to behave together: feeding, metering, bag forming, sealing, drive and control running as a single machine.

Faults surface inside a batch

A problem in one sub-assembly shows up while that batch is being proven, not at final testing, when correcting it means taking the machine apart again.

Sub-assemblies proven before integration

Each batch is verified on its own, so integration is a test of how the parts work together, not a first attempt at making any of them work.

Handed over as one unit

The customer receives a machine that has already run as a whole line, rather than a set of units whose combined behaviour is unknown until installation.

05 Production Flow

From a confirmed drawing to a crated machine: nine stages.

This is the shop-floor sequence, what physically happens to an order between the moment the drawing is signed off and the moment the crate leaves the factory. Each stage carries a control point, which is where a defect can still be caught cheaply.

Technical drawing confirmed

The order's technical drawings are issued for customer review and confirmation. Nothing is cut before this gate is passed.

Production scheduled

Working hours for each department are scheduled backwards from the delivery date of the individual order, with separate handling for urgent orders.

Parts and fabricated items prepared

Standard components are drawn from stock; non-standard items are made or sourced to the confirmed drawing before they reach the assembly area.

Batch assembly

The machine is assembled in batches, and each batch is made to run correctly before the build moves to the next one.

Electrical assembly and control

Circuit diagrams and control programming are produced alongside the mechanical design, so wiring and logic are built for the machine rather than retro-fitted to it.

Whole-unit commissioning

The verified batches are integrated and the complete machine is assembled and run as one unit, with feeding, metering, bag forming, sealing, drive and control behaving together.

Real-material test run

Customers send their own packaging material for testing on the actual machine, and receive the test video and report. This is the point at which the machine meets the real product instead of a specification.

Pre-shipment inspection

Inspection footage, photographs and the formal report are produced before the machine is released for shipment.

Export packing and dispatch

The machine is packed in moisture-proof wooden crating and dispatched as FCL or LCL, with the customs documentation prepared for the destination.

06 Custom Orders on the Shop Floor

What a non-standard order actually changes in the factory.

Customized is a claim most manufacturers make. What matters on the shop floor is narrower and more concrete: a non-standard machine has no previous unit to copy from, so the drawing work, the parts, the assembly organisation and the verification method all shift.

Drawing workloadA standard machine is built to already-reviewed standard drawings. A non-standard order requires the non-standard solution to be designed and drawn first, which is why the drawing stage, not the assembly stage, is where a custom project is won or lost.
Parts and fabricated itemsStandard components are called from stock. Items specific to the order are made or sourced to the confirmed drawing, then checked into assembly against that drawing.
Assembly organisationThe batch division and any order-specific tooling have to be planned per machine, because the structure and dimensions differ from the standard build.
Verification methodA standard machine follows a known verification route. On a custom build the real-material test run carries more weight, because it is the first time this particular configuration meets an actual product.
